WORKS MANAGER

 

Description of key result areas of department

  • To execute activities related to dredging, reclamation and civil marine projects within deadline and budget

    available.

    and environmental standards.

  • Focus on business priorities while meeting business users demands.

Job Description: Description of activities and key responsibilities of the function

  • In close cooperation with PM everything that is required to perform his tasks properly

  • Organizing and supervising the execution of the dredging works for which he is responsible

    according to the preset planning, budgeting

    and applied methods, also observing the standards

    as to quality, safety and environmental care and with as little risk as possible to persons and

    equipment.

  • Scheduling the deployment of personnel, dredging vessels, auxiliary equipment

    and subcontractors.

  • Ensuring that all legal and contractual requirements are complied with as far as the execution of

    dredging works is concerned.

  • Ensuring that the works assigned to him are executed safety and without risks for the health, quality

    and environment, both according to the customer's requirements and those of the company.

  • Reporting to Head Office Selecting the most suited staff for executing the dredging works, in

    consultation with the HR Department.

  • Reporting of defects to vessels or their auxiliary equipment to the Technical Department, the

    Project Manager

    and the Head office

  • Daily reporting to and consultation with the Project Manager, the Project Team

    and the Head office

    on the operational activities, more in particular on the progress of the works for which he is

    responsible.

  • Responsible for the safety and health of the employees and Subcontractors, including the

    environmental performance

  • Execution of the work in accordance with the local environmental prescriptions and regulations

Responsibilities and accountabilities towards HSE

  • All staff with management responsibilities shall demonstrate their commitment to the continual improvement of

    the HSE performance.

Objectives:

  • Organising and supervising the execution of the dredging works for which he is responsible according to

    the preset planning, budgeting

    and the applied methods, also observing the standards as to quality, safety

    and environmental care and with as little risk as possible to persons and equipment.

Accountabilities towards HSE

The WM will coordinate all project activities, successfully complete all projectactivities in accordance with the HSE policies and procedures.

Planning:

  • Setting up daily, weekly Operational planning

  • Assisting Setup project team

  • Assisting Setup Operational Budget <-> tender Budget

  • Assisting Setup Mobilization/Demobilization plan

Organizing:

  • Mobilization/Demobilization

    &

    Assisting the execution program

Executing:

  • Daily correspondence and contacts with Client and Third Parties

  • Checks with the Accountant progress and compares this with setup cost control and budget systems

    managing the Operations Team (daily meetings)

    establish chapters of the final report of the Project-operations pertaining to performance,

    production, soil data and other price influencing elements

Controlling:

  • The Progress of the Works, own works

    and subcontractors work

    the daily activities of the site staff

Works Manager Authorities:

  • To schedule personnel and equipment in order to perform the works as planned

  • To take all necessary decision in order to carry out the work safely, with care for the

    environment

    and with quality according to the requirements

Specific tasks concerning HSE:

  • To carry out HSE - Inspections

  • Organizing toolbox - meetings or delegating them to superintendents and foreman / supervisors

  • Commitment of WM towards the Occupational Health and Safety Management System:

  • Ensure the availability of resources to set up, implement, maintain

    and improve the EMS and

    OHSMS.

Educational Qualifications & Certifications

  • Degree in Technical or any relevant qualifications

    or equivalent

  • Minimum 08 to 10 years of experience with Dredging and Reclamation project

  • Previously engaged in large scale Dredging projects, not limited to capital and maintenance dredging as Dredge Superintendent and Works Manager

  • Experienced handling Dredge operations with propelled and self-propelled TSHD, CSD and BHD.

  • Experience with Dredging production parameters of dredgers

  • Experience with Floating and Sinker Pipeline operations
