Summary
- Assist Shift Charge Engineer (SCE) on duty in controlling the operations of boilers or Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG), generators and auxiliary equipment in a safe and efficient manner through plant Distributed Control System (DCS) as directed in a shift basis and accordance to standard operating procedures in line with Safety, Health & Environmental, and Quality requirements.
- Responsible for monitoring plant parameters and liaise closely with field operator in determine plant system healthiness and takes immediate necessary corrective actions in the event of abnormalities or malfunctions in plant equipment to avoid unnecessary plant trip.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily operations duties of the Power Stations in a shift basis.
- Assist Shift Charge Engineer on duty in daily communication with NLDC
- Operates DCS control to coordinate and regulate process variables according to process requirements to ensure safe operations and efficient.
- Carries out routine monitoring of plant, including alarms, fault annunciators, instruments, meters and protective relay equipment, record readings and report as necessary. Monitor system trends and data that collected for any equipment defects of any potential defects and report to superior and logged into the SAP system for rectification by maintenance.
- Alert on all alarms triggered at the DCS, analyse and take necessary action and report to superior promptly on the critically of the alarms.
- Start up and shutdown of generation plant safely as per instructions and guidelines.
- Assist Shift Charge Engineer and guide field operator in routine plant system testing as per scheduled or ad hoc basis when required.
- Assist SCE in preparing plant operational data for reporting and analysis.
- Isolates and de-isolates plant systems as and when required as per SCE’s instruction.
- Monitors the operations of main and auxiliary plant during normal running conditions, records and reports divergences and takes action within defined limits to correct defects and/or abnormalities and maintains maximum operational safety and efficiency.
- Ensure that Control Room is kept neat and tidy.
- Comply with all applicable SHEQ legal requirements and our stakeholders’ specifications by establishing policies, programmes and practices in order to conduct operations in a healthy, safe and environmentally sound manner with safety first, quality foremost & pursuing excellence.
- To perform other additional tasks that are relevant and necessary to accomplish the company overall objectives, which may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education Qualification required:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or
- Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or
- Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical or Electrical & Electronic Engineering with minimum 8 years’ experience in power plant operations.
- Minimum Mandatory Competency (License) required:
- Internal Combustion Engine Driver Grade 1 (ICEDG1).
- Steam Engine Driver Grade 1 (SEDG1).
- Optional requirement or added advantage:
- Authorised Entrant & Standby Person for Confined Space (AESP).
Work Experience
- Minimum years of working experience related to the work scope: a) 5 years working experience in similar industry for Diploma Holder. b) 8 years working experience in similar industry for Technical Certificate Holder.
- Work experiences required:
- Experience in power plant operations and familiar with Distributed Control System (DCS).
- Experience in guiding peers team of operators within shift for daily task requirement.
- Knowledgeable in Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and process principle.
