Job Description – Engineering Coordinator
Role Purpose
The Engineering Coordinator applies project and engineering expertise to oversee the design and coordination of Topsides and/or Marine facilities for FPSO projects. The role supports fabrication, installation, commissioning, and startup activities, ensuring seamless integration of facilities, equipment, and utilities.
Key Accountabilities
- Engineering Coordination: Collaborate with engineering disciplines, project management, procurement, HSE, QA/QC, operations, and construction teams to deliver quality outputs on schedule.
- Engineering Setup: Establish engineering and design systems, schedules, master document registers (MDR), and procurement schedules.
- Engineering Deliverables: Ensure timely issuance of all engineering deliverables.
- Engineering Schedule: Develop Level 3 and Level 4 MDR schedules for Topsides and/or Marine engineering.
- Management of Changes: Implement and track engineering change management processes post-design freeze, ensuring stakeholder communication and approvals.
- Engineering Interfaces: Coordinate responses and closeouts for Class Society comments, client technical queries, site queries, and operational queries.
- Subcontractor Management: Liaise with detailed engineering subcontractors and third-party specialists.
- Engineering Resources: Assist the Engineering Manager in forecasting, mobilizing, and demobilizing engineering and design resources.
- Risk Assessment: Support risk reviews, assessments, and resolution of engineering issues.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to company standards and procedures, particularly in change management and deviation approvals.
- Problem Solving: Develop solutions for non-recurring problems, anticipate potential issues, and take preventive actions.
- Health, Safety, and Quality: Integrate safety and quality requirements into designs to ensure operability and maintainability.
- Engineering Reviews: Assist in project design reviews and technical audits.
- Decision Making: Make timely engineering decisions when multiple valid solutions exist, guided by sound engineering practices and project objectives.
- Engineering Knowledge: Maintain familiarity with the activities of all engineering disciplines, their sequencing, and implications of major challenges.
- Dispute Resolution: Handle stakeholder conflicts professionally and tactfully.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least 12 years of experience, or Master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years.
- Specialist knowledge of FPSO projects.
- Working knowledge of competing and alternative technologies.
- Familiarity with design codes, regulatory requirements, and engineering-related software/database systems.

Work Conditions
- Primarily office-based, with potential exposure to hazards such as noise, heavy equipment, extreme temperatures, and chemicals at fabrication or installation sites.
- Assignments may include shipyards, module fabrication yards, or integration yards on short- or long-term basis.
- Approximate work distribution: 70% office, 30% site.
