The Rotating Equipment Lead is responsible for leading all rotating equipment engineering activities to meet project requirements related to scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety. This role oversees discipline execution from bidding through project delivery, ensuring technical excellence, effective coordination, and compliance with applicable standards and project interfaces

 

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead rotating equipment engineering activities in line with project specifications, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

  • Ensure full compliance with project interfaces, QA/QC standards, and HSE requirements.

  • Coordinate and supervise internal and external engineering resources, including vendors and subcontractors.

  • Monitor progress, control man-hours, and manage discipline deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Bidding & Proposal Support

  • Review and interpret tender documents, technical specifications, and contractual requirements.

  • Define scope of work, deliverables, schedules, and engineering strategies for rotating equipment packages.

  • Prepare technical queries, deviations, alternatives, and cost/man-hour estimates.

  • Support technical clarifications with clients and contribute to proposal evaluations.

 

Project Execution

  • Develop and manage discipline execution plans, schedules, and workflows.

  • Ensure timely issuance and approval of engineering documents, including vendor documentation.

  • Manage technical bid evaluations, purchase requisitions, and vendor follow-up activities.

  • Track scope changes and update cost and man-hour forecasts accordingly.

  • Provide technical support to construction, commissioning, procurement, and project management teams.

 

Vendor & Subcontractor Management

  • Define technical requirements and inspection/testing plans for rotating equipment.

  • Review and approve vendor inspection test plans and support post-order activities.

  • Coordinate subcontracted engineering work, ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and schedule targets.

 

Continuous Improvement & Governance

  • Apply engineering standards, best practices, and KPIs across projects.

  • Support the development and improvement of discipline workflows, procedures, and technical standards.

  • Participate in procurement strategies, vendor qualification, and technical evaluations.

  • Share lessons learned to enhance engineering efficiency and project outcomes.

 

Ideal Skills & Competencies

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Proven offshore facilities EPC project experience, preferably within the GCC.

  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment design, international codes, and industry standards.

  • Proven experience in engineering planning, cost estimation, progress monitoring, and reporting.

  • Ability to manage vendors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary interfaces.

  • Solid understanding of HSE risk management and project execution practices.

  • Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
