SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGNER

Take leadership positions in the formation of design teams and offer input or alignment on operational requirements within departmental or project teams.
Organise design tasks and deliverables efficiently so that the team can reach project milestones for man-hours, budget, and schedule.
The electrical design workflow/sequence reference person.
Offer technical direction and useful navigation to overcome project execution difficulties.
Job Requirements
Diploma or Certificate from technical institute or training centre.
Possess at least 12 years of experience in electrical design, preferably with oil and gas and petrochemical industry.
Comprehensive knowledge on and shall be able to effectively use computer aided (CAD) programs such as AUTOCAD and Microstation and Microsoft software suite.
Be willing to travel and station at various Engineering Operating Centers / Client Office on needs basis (for overseas assignment) or at site for construction supervision and/orcommissioning.
Main Accountabilities
DESIGN BASIS, CODE & STANDARD
Recognise project requirements and apply knowledge of design codes, industry standards, and specification interpretation.
Solid knowledge of drafting and design procedures.
Capable of troubleshooting issues based on the interpretation of project requirements, codes, and standards.
Recognise the client's requirements (such as PTS, DEP, etc.) and meet them by providing services.
KNOWLEDGE OF ELECTRICAL DESIGN
Ensure efficient use of the resources at hand.
Based on project experiences and lessons learned, provide comments on electrical design work guidelines and checklists.
Capable of producing and reviewing deliverables for electrical design projects such as cable routing drawings, lighting and small power layout drawings, earthing layout drawings, equipment layout drawings, electrical installation detail drawings, interconnection and wiring diagrams, etc.
Capable of creating and analysing cable schedules.
Capable of modelling in 3D for electrical applications.
Capable of creating and reviewing material takeoffs (MTO) for electrical work.
Capable of deciphering, analysing, and incorporating vendor deliverables into project designs.
Able to react to Site Technical Queries (STQ) regarding electrical design needs with support and input.
Capable of reviewing the deliverables created by subordinates (as a checker) and providing direction and design recommendations to them. able to ensure that employees provide quality work.
EQUIPMENT SECTION
Expertise in selecting appropriate equipment for use in hazardous environments, or good awareness of the requirements for hazardous regions.
Capable of offering feedback to the electrical engineer regarding equipment requirements and specifications, particularly for electrical bulk materials.

Layout drawings – cable routing, earthing, lightning protection, lighting and small power, equipment/substation arrangement, etc.
Electrical installation detail drawings
Interconnection and wiring diagrams
Single line and schematic diagrams
Cable schedules
Material take offs
Input to other disciplines’ deliverables such as requirements for cable trenches, input to plot plan, etc.
Weight data and foundation loading input
OTHERS
Sound professional judgement, flexibility, and initiative in delivering electrical design outputs to satisfy project requirements.
Effective interpersonal and teamwork abilities, as well as strong communication skills. As needed, coordinate with other departments or specialties.
Comply with QA and QHSES requirements, such as by maintaining the filing system in the drafting office.
Proven track record in testing, commissioning assistance, and construction oversight.
