Job Overview:
The position requires an Electrical, Mechatronic, or similar Engineering degree.
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is essential.
The candidate must have the legal right to work in Malaysia and a valid passport or the ability to apply for one.
Previous experience in managing and mentoring a team of engineers is required.
Due to the nature of working from various off-site locations, the candidate should be self-motivated and capable of working with limited supervision.
Approximately 50% of the time will be spent on-site, mainly in Malaysia, but with some overseas trips lasting from a few days to several weeks.
Desired Technical Experience:
Knowledge in AVR, Generator Excitation, LCI Commissioning, and Drives.
Familiarity with Protection Relay Configuration and Secondary Injection Testing.
Experience in configuring and commissioning PLC or DCS control systems.
Electrification Design or Commissioning Experience, such as MCCs and Switchgear.
Familiarity with OEM products from Siemens, ABB, and GE.
Bonus points for experience with Generators, Motors, Bearings, or Gearboxes.
Strong computer skills, including networking understanding and quick adaptability to new software and problem-solving abilities.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desired Skills:
Quick learner and self-motivated.
Ability to manage a team of 5 or more engineers effectively.
Proficiency in professional communication with customers and colleagues.
A strong focus on safety, with a track record of implementing safety best practices.
Knowledge of key customers within power generation in South East Asia is advantageous.
Main Accountabilities:
As a service manager in an engineering role, the primary responsibilities include:
Developing service strategies, plans, and schedules for engineering projects/products to ensure efficient maintenance and support.
Allocating resources, including technicians, tools, equipment, and materials, for successful service execution.
Overseeing service activities, such as installation, repair, troubleshooting, upgrades, or maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Managing customer relationships, understanding their requirements, addressing concerns, and maintaining strong connections with key stakeholders.
Leading and managing a team of service technicians or engineers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing corrective and preventive measures based on service data and feedback.
Maintaining accurate service records and generating performance reports to evaluate service delivery and identify areas for improvement.
