The Planning and Cost Engineer Reporting directly to the Head of Projects, The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with project teams.
Key Responsibilities: Projects Support:
• Will oversee the following activities to support the Projects and Development Team:
o Project Scope - WBS
o Project Schedule – Critical Path, Milestones etc.
o Cash Flow, S-Curve, etc., Drawdown Schedule and Forecasting
o Construction Methods & Logistic Plan
oBOQ & UPA
o CAPEX estimate
o OPEX estimate
o Project Health Indices
Cost Estimation:
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for projects.
• Conduct thorough cost analysis to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and optimize project budgets.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Work closely with the Project Manager to establish and monitor project budgets, aligning them with organizational goals and financial objectives
• Assist in the preparation of regular budget forecasts, providing timely updates and recommendations.
Cost Control:
• Implement robust cost control measures to proactively manage project expenses and prevent budget overruns.
• Conduct regular reviews of project expenditures, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Financial Reporting:
• Prepare detailed financial reports and present cost-related information to the Head of Projects and other stakeholders.
• Conduct regular variance analysis to identify deviations between planned and actual costs.
• Provide insights and analysis on cost performance, highlighting areas for improvement and efficiency.
Collaboration:
• Collaborate with project teams to investigate and explain variances, facilitating informed decision making.
• Work closely with procurement and finance teams to optimize cost-effectiveness in the acquisition of materials and services.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong project management and business process skills.
• Proven experience as a Cost Engineer or in a similar role within project management.
• Strong understanding of cost estimation, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as Microsoft Excel and project management software.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
