Legal Counsel
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide in house legal advice and services to support the Company’s business activities, with a key focus on procurement matters.
Identify and analyse legal issues in negotiation of procurement related agreements and arrangements and other legal documents and provide legal advice or recommendation.
Collaborate with the relevant working teams in the development of contracting strategies, review tender documents (in respect of the terms and conditions) to ensure legal risk exposure is minimised.
Liaising with and managing external counsels on matters pertaining to contracts and agreements entered by the Company.
Assist in providing in-house support to corporate compliance – relevant laws and regulations and internal controls and procedures.
Assist in analysing all material changes in the current law and facilitating compliance with the revised requirements.
Provide support on other matters as may be requested by the Legal Manager.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Law
(or equivalent) from a reputable university and has been called to the Malaysian Bar.
Minimum 6 years of relevant legal experience with comprehensive familiarity with legislation and procedures in Malaysia.
Ability to monitor and analyse new legislation and procedures.
Familiarity with supply chain matters, with strong negotiation skills.
A practical business-oriented approach to the practice of law.
Thorough knowledge in legal research skills and analysis.
Knowledge and experiences in handling and advising on compliance matters including personal data protection, and anti-bribery and corruption.
Significant experience within the oil & gas industry, upstream experience preferably.
Experience working within an international environment – preferably within multi-national companies.
Ability to speak, read and write both Malay and English fluently.
