About the role

Our client is Malaysia's pioneering independent oil and gas exploration and production company listed. The Company are dedicated to maximizing value from operational oilfields and expanding their collection of development and production assets within the targeted geographical regions. A new opportunity has risen and our client is looking for a Senior Reservoir Engineer to be based in Kuala Lumpur on a perm time basis.

The Senior Reservoir Engineer is responsible that all reservoir engineering evaluations and modelling throughout the exploration and production cycle are technically robust and meet or exceed industry or regulatory standards and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform reservoir engineering technical assessments in all subsurface modelling studies to enhance production and recovery through infill well drilling, GCBD and production enhancement opportunities adhering to a prudent Reservoir Management Plan (RMP).
  • Ensure reservoir engineering studies and reservoir modeling workflows meet or exceed industry and regulatory standards, are fit-for-purpose and with appropriate and effective quality checks in place.
  • Ensure reserves assessment and long-term production forecasts comply with regulatory and company standards.
  • Develop and maintain 3D geological dynamic models by integrating subsurface and production data. Conduct history matching for precise reservoir representation and perform prediction, uncertainties, and optimization analysis to identify opportunities for optimal recovery.
  • Conduct analytical analyses by integrating subsurface and production data to identify opportunities and assess reserves.
  • Collaborate effectively within the subsurface team consisting of geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers and production technologists, as well as in multidisciplinary teams/departments.
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding and management of all projects undertaken by the organization. Effectively oversee project timelines and ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of objectives such as seismic acquisition/processing, subsurface studies, FFR, FDP, formation evaluation, post-drilling reports and, others.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure all correspondence, presentation materials, reports, and documentation meet the highest technical standards and are submitted promptly.
  • Coordinate with the drilling group to ensure safe and successful exploration and development drilling campaigns. Provide expertise and knowledge to identify drilling risks and geohazards, and provide solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Participate in data rooms, compile, and analyze geoscience subsurface and engineering data to provide technical recommendations of opportunities on offer.
  • Mentor and coach reservoir engineers in the team to achieve full potential.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, other Engineering, or equivalent qualification from recognized universities.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the reservoir and petroleum engineering disciplines in the oil and gas industry, preferably with an operator.
  • Essential experience in reservoir and petroleum engineering including surveillance and studies.
  • Familiar with seismic interpretation, petroleum systems analysis, structural geology in extensional and compressional regimes, fault-seal analysis, sequence stratigraphy, 3D reservoir modelling, petrophysics analysis, geological laboratory analyses and offshore drilling/platform operations.
  • Experience in understanding well behaviors and reservoir performances.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in 3D dynamic reservoir modelling (PVT, SCAL, History Matching, Prediction and Uncertainty and Optimization Sensitivity).
  • Experience in analytical methods for reserves estimation and for opportunity generation.
  • Experience in integration of all types of subsurface data to understand subsurface risk.
  • Provide technical support to operation/surveillance teams as required.
  • Familiar with technical review process. Able to formulate Field Development Plan (FDP), Full Field Review (FFR) or similar processes.
